Staff UX Researcher, Google Labs

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.
  • Experience in the AI gaming or media space.
  • Product research experience with 0-to-1 product development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 7 years of experience working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • 5 years of experience managing projects, and working in a matrixed organization.
  • Experience leveraging a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods and analysis techniques in disciplinary environments.
  • Experience with, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies.
  • Startup experience with passion for working with emerging products.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $178,000-$265,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Own project priorities in alignment with product goals, and oversee allocation of resources within the project. 
  • Partner closely with the Labs Gen Media and AI Gaming leads, Program Manager (PM), UX, and Engineers across the product life-cycle.
  • Design, lead and execute research studies, along or in collaboration with other UX researchers.
  • Stay on the forefront of AI products through daily tool use and experimentation. Consistently cultivate an informed Point of View (POV) on how technical capability will line up with user need.
  • Provide actionable insights that directly influence product strategy.
