Technical Program Manager, Global Submarine Networks Compliance

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Experience in the delivery of telecommunications fiber, space/power, or capacity infrastructure.
  • Experience in compliance, information security, IT audit, or risk management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with telecommunications carrier, data center provider, or ISP.
  • Experience developing and managing tools, policies, procedures, and processes for establishing compliance oversight, responding to incidents of non-compliance.
  • Experience with physical and cybersecurity measures for telecommunications and methods for auditing the implementation.
  • Experience managing multiple projects of varying complexity or scope simultaneously.
  • Ability to work across internal and external teams on initiatives focused on improving performance and quality, while ensuring compliance internally and externally.

About the job

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

As a member of the Global Submarine Networks (GSN) Compliance team, you will facilitate and manage compliance with various telecommunications regulations across multiple countries and localities around the globe. You will understand the requirements of multiple regulators and work to keep up with regulatory and telecommunications industry change and the effects they may have on the Google network. You will work with internal legal, policy, strategic negotiators, submarine cable, network deployment, security, and software engineering teams and outside counsel, consultants, and regulators.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects of varying complexity and scope and drive project delivery, challenge proposals, and build consensus.
  • Create and maintain dashboards to track compliance metrics and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Provide use cases and requirements documents for development of new or implementation of new compliance tools.
  • Ensure appropriate regulatory and compliance training is provided to third-party partners.
  • Work across internal and external teams on initiatives focused on improving performance and quality, while ensuring compliance internally and externally.
