Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently in order to support global teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience writing and maintaining software tests, designing systems, and working developer infrastructure.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, particularly working in a team setting or cross-team/cross-functional role.

The mission of Products for All (P4A) is to ensure that Google’s products and services build toward world. Our engineering efforts are currently focused on the needs of users with disabilities. Through solutions that support Web, Android, and iOS, we build the foundational standard, tools, services, and partnerships that simplify, measure, and ensure verifiable accessibility at every stage of the product development life-cycle across Google, making it easy for Google teams to meet and exceed accessibility requirements.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Contribute to tools that help other Google engineers understand, diagnose, and fix accessibility issues in their codebase.
  • Write product or system development code and develop integrations between our core tooling and other company-wide systems.
  • Build and apply domain expertise, scaling accessibility by participation in P4A's accessibility consulting and educational programs.
