Head of Business Development, Play Games Partnerships

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking, in the Consumer Electronics, Auto, OEMs, Telecom, E-Commerce/Retail, Apps, Ads, Gaming, or Technology industries.
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management.
  • Experience managing agreements or partnerships.
  • Experience in the gaming industry.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or JD degree.
  • 5 years of experience managing people or teams.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., Product Management, Finance, Marketing, etc.), and leading internal/external communications and negotiations.
  • Experience using insights and employing thoughtful structures to solve problems and communicate solutions.
  • Experience in the mobile gaming industry.
  • Ability to work in changing, collaborative, and ambiguous start-up like environments where thoughtfulness, an entrepreneurial mindset, persistent execution, and relationships drive success.

Google Play provides apps, games, and digital content services that bring Android devices to life. It’s a Google approach to entertainment, syncing across your devices and the web. As part of the Platform and Ecosystem team, employees working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping the product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy a game or ebook on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Play Store serves over two billion users around the world, and is a critical driver of Google’s overall business growth. The Play Partnerships team works with the developers of this ecosystem. The content, games, and apps they create bring Android devices to life. The team’s goal is to help developers grow their businesses on the Android platform, and inspire them to adopt new products and features to create helpful experiences for our users.


As the Head of Business Development for Games, you will lead a team that manages and helps grow our most important partnerships with game developers/publishers. You will help ensure developer success through driving product adoption and by being a growth advisor on our platform.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.

Responsibilities

  • Foster collaborative relationships with both external partners/suppliers and internal stakeholders, advocating for partners and ensuring alignment to deliver product excellence and a good partner experience.
  • Analyze partner and industry metrics, provide actionable insights and consultations to optimize partner performance, build business forecasts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape product strategy and drive business success.
  • Participate in shaping product and commercial big bets and leverage partner insights to contribute to the overall growth and health of the Google Play ecosystem.
  • Define, drive, and oversee comprehensive partnership strategies for a portfolio of game developers and publishers. This includes identifying new opportunities and managing the entire partner experience, from initial prospecting and negotiation through agreement integration and ongoing relationship management.
