Category Manager, Data Center Construction

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in sourcing, category management, or procurement roles, with a focus on managing indirect spend categories, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
  • Experience executing sourcing strategies, RFx processes, negotiations, and supplier evaluations within the data center or construction categories.
  • Experience with agreements, including drafting, review, and management within the data center or construction categories.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Experience leveraging technology for development/management of key performance indicators (KPIs)/metrics, analyzing data, generating reports, and providing insights supporting decision-making and performance evaluation.
  • Experience working in or supporting a construction environment for advanced data centers or manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience with constraint management, capacity planning, and generating models of demand signals to identify, characterize, and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Experience in project management and ability to lead projects/initiatives aimed at process improvement/implementation or driving innovation within the category.

Within the Google Procurement Organization, the Category Management team partners closely with key stakeholders to help shape and implement procurement strategies. The Category team is responsible for developing and driving holistic category strategies, managing stakeholder relationships, and bringing excellence to Google-wide sourcing, supplier, and agreement management.

In this role, you will be responsible for pioneering innovative category and sourcing strategies for our Data Center Construction supply chain, cultivating strategic supplier relationships, and optimizing spend categories through data-driven insights to unlock value for Google.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $131,000-$192,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Support development and execution of category strategies aligned with organizational objectives for assigned indirect spend categories.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality service delivery and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Support execution of sourcing strategies, RFx processes, negotiations, and supplier evaluations within designated categories.
  • Analyze spending patterns, market trends, and identify value opportunities within the category.
  • Analyze procurement data, generate reports, and provide insights to support decision-making and performance evaluation within the category.
