Senior Software Engineer, Chrome for Android

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience programming in the Java programming language.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience with Android or mobile app development.
  • Proficiency in the Java or C++ programming language.
  • Ability to work on user-facing features, collaborate with cross-functional peers and values product excellence and building features that work for all users.

Our team works on high-visibility, user-facing projects and owns the primary app UI, integration with the Android platform, and support for upcoming Android releases. We also create the building blocks for other Chrome teams to efficiently build high quality UI for their features and integrate with the rest of the app.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Scope, design, implement, and maintain new features, improvements to existing features, and UI frameworks, with a focus on maintainability and reusability.
  • Support upcoming Android releases by responding to changes in the platform and feature requests ahead of general public release.
  • Collaborate with PM/UX to plan new features and deploy, analyze, and launch experiments.
  • Set technical direction and priorities for adjacent engineers; participate in design and code reviews for teammates and other Chrome/Google teams.
