Cloud Program Manager, Federal Government

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in program management.
  • 1 year of experience with software development and establishing methods, tools, and process improvements for cross-team initiatives.
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting level 1 or 2 Australian Government Security Clearance.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or cloud technologies, abuse detection, and web platform intricacies.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: threat modeling, incident/emergency response, Operating System (OS) hardening, vulnerability management, pen testing, or cryptographic concepts.
  • Understanding of private cloud architecture and technologies.
  • Ability to manage projects/programs through their full lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing.

About the job

The Google Australia Public Sector, Delivery and Operations team delivers, operates and secures private cloud services. We aim to provide the flexibility, reliability, and scalability of public cloud for customers with exceptionally high security requirements that can only be met in a private cloud environment. We deliver and operate these private cloud deployments for the most critical customers, helping scale, secure and maintain the deployment whilst working closely with Google product teams to continually improve our technology. This role is part of a team focused on meeting the needs of our most critical Australia Federal Government customers.

As the Air Gapped Cloud Program Manager, you will be part of a team that deploys and operates our private cloud services for critical customers in Australia. You will navigate through ambiguity to define and drive cross-functional programs in large work groups that span multiple teams. You will drive the long-term objectives as well as near-term deliverables, and manage the customer outcomes. You will drive consistency, efficiency, and economies of scale within the programs they manage to maximize returns. You will deliver planning, communications including, delivery to executive audiences, execution (e.g., adjust levers to drive outcomes), continuous improvement, organizational change, stakeholder management (e.g., build effective program teams) skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand or identify defined work problems and program goals, obtain prioritized deliverables, and discuss program impact.
  • Prioritize program goals, understand and translate other stakeholders needs into program goals and prioritized deliverables with minimal assistance, and contribute to decisions on prioritizing goals and deliverables.
  • Define the scope of projects and develop, execute, or manage project plans for supported programs.
  • Review key metrics pertaining to a program, monitor potential metric deviations, and define corrective actions for critical deviations.
  • Identify, communicate, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders within one or more teams to drive impact and work toward mutual goals.
