Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in clean energy policy and regulatory matters within Texas, particularly relating to electric utilities, rate design and analysis, and related topics.
- Knowledge of key stakeholders, issues, and market trends within Texas, with a familiarity with ERCOT and the PUCT.
- Ability in achieving desired outcomes in Texas's regulatory and legislative arenas, often as part of large stakeholder coalitions.
- Ability to grow in ambiguous environments and creative approach to solve complex multi-stakeholder tests.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, exceptional oral and written communication, and project management skills.

As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.
In this role, focused on Texas, you will be part of the team responsible for Google’s global energy portfolio, where you will work with some of the most testing energy and infrastructure issues of the day.
As a Strategic Negotiator, Energy Regulatory and Policy, you will lead energy regulatory initiatives in Texas to ensure cost-effective power supplies, maintain a path for growth for our data centers and energy-related products, and meet our ambitious carbon-free energy goals. In this role, you will help to drive Texas energy-related strategy development and execution, lead individual initiatives and projects, and work with teams across the company in support of Google's energy portfolio and advocate before energy regulators and industry stakeholders in Texas.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. Responsibilities
- Lead strategic evaluations of regulatory and policy environments in Texas, electricity industry trends, electric pricing/rates, stakeholder interests, and electricity institutional structures to assess risks and opportunities for Google’s data center electricity supply portfolio.
- Develop and lead efforts to further market solutions for Google’s electricity supply needs in Texas, including design of regulatory and market engagement strategies as well as implementation tactics.
- Work cross-functionally with others on Google’s Global Infrastructure, Product, Public Policy, and other teams to develop policy and market positions and communicate to key constituencies.
- Lead energy-related advocacy work with trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups, and other allies in Texas to advance Google’s strategic energy interests and priorities.
- Support energy supply negotiations in Texas, working closely with site and energy Strategic Negotiators.
