Engineering Analyst, Trust and Safety, Ads Account Takeover

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 5 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or a relevant experience in a technical field (computer science, engineering, math, physics, cyber security).
  • 5 years of experience with one or more of the following languages: SQL, R, Python, or C++.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: deriving actionable insights, root-causes and intelligence from data sources; rolling out security policies, measuring and communicating impact; cyber security, protecting accounts against any form of cyber threat; or using large-scale data analysis, to resolve problems, processes or operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Fast-paced, dynamic, and proactive, YouTube’s Trust & Safety team is dedicated to making YouTube a safe place for users, viewers, and content creators around the world to create, and express themselves. Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust & Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.

In this role, you will be working with a team of analysts that assess and address threats against Google Ads accounts in the hijacking space. You are keen to identify and solve problems at scale and have excellent analytical, technical and security skills. You are proactive, motivated, organized, responsible, innovative and are able to work well in a changing, global, cross-functional, and team-oriented environment and demonstrate excellent technical know-how, effective communication to get things done.

You will also work very closely with engineering and product teams to make sure that you can quickly adapt our products and defenses against new threat vectors, to ensure a safe experience for users and advertisers. You will build, leverage and evaluate models and operations to solve cyber security and abuse problems. This role may review graphic, controversial, and sometimes offensive content during the course of the role as well as infrequent on-call schedules outside of working hours, including weekends/holidays.At Google we work hard to earn our users’ trust every day. We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed and actionable qualitative and quantitative understanding of the Ads account takeover threat landscape, including designing and improving additional data collection, processes and quality measures to achieve this.
  • Design and build early warning alerts for novel and changing threats, based on researching, understanding and experimenting with attacker operations and a thorough understanding of attacker interactions with our systems.
  • Provide and apply our security intelligence to be ready to respond to new adversarial campaigns or actors. Work with product and engineering teams to implement this intelligence into prevention and detection systems.
  • Provide the training required and work with Ads Safety to get tooling improvements when needed.
