UX Designer, Android, Google TV

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in product design or UX design.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience with the evolving landscape of living room entertainment and smart home technologies.
  • Understanding of media and entertainment consumption patterns, including cross-platform behaviors between TV, mobile, and emerging devices e.g., wearables, voice assistants, XR, etc.

About the job

As a UX Designer for Google TV, you will play a part in building the future of how people experience entertainment. Based on our Bangalore site, you will work closely with the transactional video, Ambient, and Photos teams for TV, contributing to the Google TV product development. You will focus on designing seamless and intuitive user experiences across a connected ecosystem, including TV screens, mobile devices, and emerging technologies. If you are driven by solving design challenges, understanding user behavior across different platforms, and building cohesive entertainment journeys, you will directly influence how millions engage with Google TV's expanding portfolio.

Google TV is redefining the TV experience to make it highly personalized, Google-smart, and content-forward to help users access the world’s media. Through recent launches like Chromecast with Google TV, we bring together the best of Google. Google TV is focused on scaling across the OEM ecosystem; working closely with third-party streaming partners plus many teams across Google (for example: Ads, Play, and YouTube); and building a business on TV platforms, OTT devices, and mobile devices. With millions of active users of our products plus being amidst the quickly evolving media and entertainment industry, there are plenty of opportunities for the team and individuals in it.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements, and provide solutions.
  • Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, or high fidelity prototypes.
  • Create designs by user insights, business objectives, industry trends, and the unique constraints and opportunities presented by TVs and interconnected devices.
  • Advocate for the prioritization of design centered changes, refinements, and improvements.
  • Produce comprehensive design solutions, specs, and prototypes considering TV interfaces, alongside their mobile counterparts and extensions into emerging interaction models e.g., voice, gestures, etc.
