Senior Security Engineer Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
  • 5 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
  • 5 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
  • 1 year of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience in people management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in protecting systems/cloud.
  • Experience in managing a team of engineers on large-scale projects.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage across multiple, often time-sensitive initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

About the job

Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

Enterprise Security Cloud and Off-Google Security Engineers work on a broad set of efforts focusing on defining, measuring, preventing, remediating, and sustaining a healthy cloud security posture. Security Engineers also support work to improve Security across our Acquisitions and Other Bet companies.

In this role, you will specifically focus on overseeing cloud governance across GCP and Cloud Computing Platform support the wide variety of infrastructure and technology stacks used by Alphabet in the cloud. You will require close collaboration with partners across Information and Infrastructure Protection (IIP), Cloud and Open Ecosystems (COE), and Detection and Response (D&R) to ensure comprehensive security.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of engineers focused for the security of the Alphabet's use of public Cloud including
    Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Cloud Computing Platform.
  • Drive creation of security polices, guidance, and control objectives that define the expected security posture for Cloud infrastructure and services at Alphabet.
  • Oversee team governance functions including managing security policy exception reviews and decisions and engaging in consulting and security review engagements for high-risk or high-impact projects.
  • Inspire, grow, and develop talent while providing goals and setting direction for your focus area; lead effectively through outcomes rather than tasks.
