Software Engineer III, AI/ML, Search Ads Quality

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 1 year of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
  • 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience with Google's ML stack: Tensorflow, SAX, GeMax, TPUs, etc.
  • End-to-end experience launching applied ML, NLP or LLM projects.

Ads Quality Zurich is part of Search Ads. Specifically, we train and maintain machine learning models to match user intent with commercial content on Google Search using the latest advances in NLP and multimodal modeling, content understanding and GenAI, as well as advanced training such as RL.

In this role, you will be involved in the full AI model lifecycle, from design choices to training to efficient deployment of serving models in production at the scale of Search Ads. You will innovate while collaborating with other teams, including research, to test and implement the latest technologies in our models.

We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Implement solutions in one or more specialized ML areas, utilize ML infrastructure, and contribute to model training, optimization and data processing.
  • Write related product or system development code.
  • Innovate and iterate on machine learning model training recipes, improving quality and efficiency across the entire model lifecycle.
  • Test ML solutions by running and analyzing experiments using analytical and statistical methods.
  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices amongst available technologies (e.g., prompt optimization and training recipes, also accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
