About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you will manage various projects, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

This role offers an opportunity to directly shape the reliability of Google's foundational machine management systems, a critical component of our infrastructure. You will partner with Infrastructure SRE leaders at all levels, driving programs, providing structure, organization, and visibility to technical initiatives. Beyond program execution, you will be instrumental in establishing frameworks that improve organizational efficiency, foster technical leadership, and improve decision-making in a dynamic environment. Your work will directly enable Google to maintain its leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Site Reliability Engineering leadership to define the outlook for the infrastructure program portfolio. Set multi-quarter roadmaps, manage resource allocation, and align investments with organizational reliability goals.
  • Collaborate with SRE Engineers and development partners to architect improvements for core. Drive initiatives that enhance system availability, scalability, and latency.
  • Establish and evolve program governance frameworks. Drive process improvements that reduce toil, facilitate complex decision-making, and ensure high-velocity execution across the organization.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and operational risks. Build influential relationships with executive stakeholders across Engineering, Product, and Finance to ensure alignment on critical infrastructure milestones.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for program health. Use data-driven insights to measure impact, driving continuous improvement in engineering productivity and organizational growth.
