Senior Staff Visual Designer, Search UX Foundations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • Experience in visual, interaction, and motion design, and managing teams in consumer settings.
  • Experience designing across multiple platforms, and working with technical/design teams to create user flows, wireframes, and building user interface mockups and prototypes.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • Experience developing design language/systems and understanding contemporary trends with a focus on detailed visual/motion design, including physics/patterns elements, and use motion to express sentimental or emotional experiences effectively.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to advocate and drive key product innovations with strong product sensibility and capability.
  • Excellent prototyping or front-end development skills, with the ability to fuse creativity and code to deliver cutting edge interactions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $224,000-$315,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Co-lead the design and evolution of the Search design language for the AI era; develop compelling creative perspectives on how the future of Search could feel to users.
  • Partner with teams across Google to ensure scalability of the design language and frameworks across the experience.
  • Align cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, etc.) on cohesive, scalable design strategies, and collaborate deeply to power use cases, create foundational frameworks, and drive adoption across the organization.
  • Lead initiatives to gather feedback, foster innovation, and refine core frameworks, ensuring successful implementation in partner teams and continuous improvement across Google.
  • Influence executive leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to enable long-term business success and product excellence.
