Engineering Manager, YouTube OTT

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in any of the following: Data Acquisition, Web Applications, User Experience, Enterprise Applications, Flume, Data Processing, Boq, Navigating Ambiguity, C++.
  • Experience in building a new product, including rapid iteration/prototyping with the ability to pivot based on user feedback.
  • Experience with enterprise-facing software for providers in double sided marketplaces (e.g., Uber, Airbnb, eBay, etc.).
  • Experience with quality problems with Third-party data and defining metrics.
  • Experience with data infrastructure with data reconciliation or Knowledge Graph.
  • Experience with operational automation.

In this role, you will be responsible for onboarding media companies, acquiring their premium TV content and metadata, modeling it, understanding and enriching it, packaging it, and ultimately publishing it to serving systems.At YouTube, we believe that everyone deserves to have a voice, and that the world is a better place when we listen, share, and build community through our stories. Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of storage infrastructure, workflow, and pipelines for managing and publishing content to YT core systems.
  • Build and manage tools in YouTube Studio for Media to manage their content and grow their businesses on YT.
  • Establish carrots and sticks to influence Media companies to provide quality videos and metadata on YT. Manage integration with Third-party (3P) metadata providers.
  • Define, measure, and move metrics around data quality and explore open-source ID spaces like Entertainment Identifiers Registry (EIDR) and how to move the industry to improve data quality.
  • Hire and grow a performing engineering team and set a healthy engineering culture rooted in psychological safety and collaboration.
