Strategic Partner Development Lead, AR/XR Hardware Technology

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in business development, partnerships, or management consulting, in the Consumer Electronics, Auto, OEMs, Telecom, E-Commerce/Retail, Apps, Ads, Gaming, or Technology industries.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, product management, and legal, from individual contributors to executives.
  • Experience managing agreements or partnerships.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or other advanced degree.
  • Experience leading complex first-of-their-kind product partnerships with a broad set of cross-functional team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience operating with flexibility in a fast-paced, always-on, constantly evolving and collaborative environment and working cross-functionally with all levels of management, both internally and externally.
  • Subject matter expertise or work experience in the XR (VR/AR/MR) space, in particular technology knowledge of display, optics, silicon or other key component technologies in the development of high quality hardware.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication and presentation skills on technical, contractual and financial issues.

Google's XR Team is responsible for the Android XR Platform, supporting Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies that can see and sense the world from the same vantage point as you, and interweave digital information onto the world around you. Our goal is to give people superhuman capabilities by making computing more perceptive, immersive, and accessible through technologies like AI.

The Platforms & Devices Extended Reality Platform Business Development (P&D XR Platform BD) Partnerships team is seeking a talented, highly motivated and experienced individual to lead partnerships in areas such as Display, Optics, Silicon, and other Strategic Hardware and ODM Manufacturing for augmented reality glasses and immersive headsets with leading OEM, ODM, and other technology partners.

The XR Platform Business Development team works with the XR team on bringing augmented and extended reality wearable solutions to the market. We partner with technology companies and suppliers on creating state of the art AR glasses and XR headsets, and with OEM and eyewear companies on launching those products.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $134,000-$196,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Establish deep partnerships with key hardware technology partners in the XR (AR/VR/MR) space to enable the development and distribution of Android-based XR devices.
  • Define, negotiate, and close complex product, technology, distribution, and marketing agreements with global partners.
  • Emerge as a thought leader on the ecosystem, strategic trends & competitive threats and establish reputation as an expert who can provide guidance to PM and engineering teams on engagement strategies with major technology partners.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Program Management, Strategy and Operations, Legal and other internal stakeholders to maximize investment across the XR platform and advocate internally on behalf of partners.
  • Serve as a relationship manager for existing XR partnerships, ensuring the realization of agreement value while evolving long-term strategies to adapt to the rapidly changing hardware ecosystem.
