Senior Motion and Visual Designer, YouTube, Art Department

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of motion design experience in product design, UX design, or UX/UI animation.
  • Experience in motion design related to physics, patterns, and visual design elements.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • 2 years of experience leading design projects.
  • Understand the intricacies of UI elements (color, type, layout, iconography, surfaces) and work with the tools and cross-functional partners needed to maintain a polished user experience.
  • Ability to advocate for principled design systems and consistent design language across multiple platforms.
  • Ability to be a strategic thinker who can work within constraints to deliver on a broader goal.
  • Ability to be detail oriented with a strong sense of form, choreography, and composition.

As a Motion Designer, you’ll apply your passion for animation to simplify complex interactions and solve challenging design problems. You’ll help define and implement Google’s motion design language and you’ll think critically about how motion reinforces Google’s UX brand, enhances interactivity, and delights our users.

The YouTube Art Department is looking for a creative and systematic Senior Motion and Visual Designer. This is an exciting opportunity to not only define the visual language of a global brand but to bring it to life through expressive and cohesive motion design systems.

In this role, you will shape YouTube's visual identity in a product. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $151,000-$222,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Create high quality design proposals and drive projects from concept to iterations and implementation.
  • Advocate the YouTube brand by developing and promoting motion guidelines, resources, and tools for YouTube Standards.
  • Take ownership over a gamut of motion projects through ideation, execution, art direction, and approvals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to help strategize, consult on, and implement a myriad of compelling product features.
  • Work within the hard constraints of existing YouTube motion capabilities, and actively explore emerging technologies.
