Senior Data Scientist, Product, Search

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data science, Engineering, Physics, Economics or a related quantitative field.
  • 8 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL) or 5 years work experience and a Master's degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, data science, engineering, physics, economics or a related quantitative field.
  • 8 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  • Experience analyzing user behaviors in consumer apps, and linking those behaviors to successful business outcomes.
  • Experience working with engineers and product managers especially around providing product-centric insights.
  • Experience in extracting large sets of data with SQL and in designing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) flows.
  • Experience in developing models (e.g., statistical and causal inference, classification methods).

About the job

In this role, you will provide quantitative support, market understanding, and a perspective to our partners throughout the organization. You will serve as an investigative expert for the partners using numbers to help them make better decisions. You will weave stories with meaningful insights from data. You'll make recommendations for the Googlers in engineering and product management. You will analyze quantitative data with precision and effectively convey results to team leaders. You will work encompassing three main areas such as work with our product and engineering leads to launch innovative features to image search including a new inspirational images feed that is centered around a user's saves and collections. You will seek to understand how our users interact with visual content in search results and other search surfaces, and how search can provide more value to users as a place to come for visual inspiration. You will design and iterate on metrics critical to understanding the quality of the image search products and measuring progress toward our goals

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Partner with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams to influence, prioritize, and support the image search product strategy.
  • Apply technical expertise with observational data analysis, modeling or causal inference to answer the most important product questions.
  • Lead the design, analysis, and interpretation of product experiments or post-hoc causal inference analysis.
  • Define and develop key metrics to measure users' journeys and experiences in image search.
  • Deliver effective presentations of data-driven insights and recommendations to multiple levels of stakeholders.
