Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience in software development.
  • 6 years of experience in full-stack software development and system design.
  • 2 years of experience as a Tech Lead or Engineering Manager.
  • Experience with front end languages (e.g., JavaScript or TypeScript).
  • Experience with backend languages (e.g., Java, Python, or C++).
  • Experience working with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience managing or leading software engineering teams.
  • Experience in multiple programming languages relevant to web solutions (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript).
  • Experience with full-stack development.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing, distributed systems, ETL pipelines, and Big Data technologies.

About the job

As a Manager, you will lead a team of Web Solutions Engineers (WSE) to drive project work, define internal roadmaps, and make critical technical contributions across multiple problems within our team's projects. You will leverage our experience in multiple web technologies and related backend systems to provide scalable solutions.

You will guide our team in developing high-quality web applications, key tools, and systems for structuring and processing agreements, managing partner deals, and automating payments.

You will oversee the design, building, and deployment of scalable software platforms for stakeholders and will ensure our team adheres to Google's software development best practices and collaborates effectively across teams to close product gaps, solve business needs, and bring efficiency.

You will provide technical leadership, setting technical direction and priorities for the team. You will mentor and advise our team members and contribute to the broader WSE community at Google by sharing ideas. You will manage project priorities and resources, fostering a culture of collaboration, quality, and speed. You will also engage in community contributions to improve Google's culture and operations.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $149,000-$218,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of individuals; communicate individual and team priorities that support organizational goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Drive feature changes using data-driven insights by analyzing large data sets on users' behaviors to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Optimize front-end code and tools to meet user needs by working with engineers to refine code and tools, and ensuring that they are correct and appropriate for user needs.
  • Identify, recommend, and prioritize new web features and applications by working with business leaders and product managers to understand user needs, and developing plans for new features and applications.
  • Work with cross-team stakeholders to understand the user experience by conducting user research, and working with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the user experience is optimized.
