Senior Staff Security Engineer Manager, Access Security Engineering

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
  • 10 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
  • 10 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
  • 10 years of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience in people management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in managing geographically distributed teams.
  • Experience in infrastructure security, access security, or other security engineering projects.
  • Experience in Google's internal infrastructure.
  • Experience in Applied Machine learning , Agentic AI, or Large Language Model.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

About the job

There's no such thing as a "safe system" - only safer systems. Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. As a Security Engineer, you help protect network boundaries, keep computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and provide security services to protect highly sensitive data like passwords and customer information. Security Engineers work directly with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. You also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

You are a recognized expert in at least two security domains and use your leadership skills to manage a team that sets the direction and goals for solving Google-wide problems. You identify fundamental security problems at Google and drives major security improvements in Google infrastructure.

In this role, you will be responsible for building safe, well-lit paths for access to Google's infrastructure and services spanning all enterprise environments (Google Cloud, Production, Corp, etc.) while Google is undergoing the AI transformation. You will require a deep understanding of enterprise threats and risks, designing scalable guardrails that enforce the right constraints without unnecessarily impeding our business, and building tools that enable Googlers to make good decisions about access. You will lead sizable populations of our enterprise and have significant visibility across Google.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement security solutions to harden Google's infrastructure against risks of unauthorized access from malicious insiders and external adversaries in the age of AI.
  • Provide security expertise and guidance on topics of Authentication, Authorization, and Access Control to Google engineering and business teams.
  • Drive enterprise focused security improvements to Google products and services.
  • Build security tools and processes for critical infrastructure protection, monitoring, and remediation.
  • Transform Access Security Engineering by leveraging recent advances in AI.
