Manufacturing Engineer, Global Manufacturing Operations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role for Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) Simultaneous multithreading (SMT) processes, DFM and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Experience in working with Original Device Manufacturers (ODMs), agreement manufacturers and suppliers to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions and improvements.
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Valor, AutoCAD, Allegro, Gerber tools).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master in Science or PhD in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 10 years experience in SMT and final assembly process development, manufacturing inspection and testing practices.
  • Experience in setting up Statistical Process Control (SPC), Capability Process Index (CPK) and GR and R monitoring.
  • Experience in performing statistical issue analysis to drive technical resolutions.
  • Experience with PCBA (L6) and system integration manufacturing (L10) or process development.
  • Experience in project leadership with working cross functionally, with the ability to provide communication and direction to the CMs or partners.

In this role, you will be supporting manufacturing mass production support for Google’s data center products. You will have the opportunity to engage the participation in New Product Introduction (NPI), influence Design for Excellence (DFX) changes, lead projects and make significant contributions to Google's L6, L10 and L11 manufacturing processes and assembly. You will build and deploy technology to support the needs of compute, storage, networking, and machine learning hardware.Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. Responsibilities

  • Oversee L6 and L10 assembly processes. Ensure product quality and yield is meeting goals. Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and improve manufacturing lead time, efficiency and cost.
  • Sustain the products technical issues analysis, root causing and drive corrective action by working with the Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
  • Support quarterly quality and supply business review. Perform Manufacturing Capability Assessment (MCA) for new CMs.
  • Ensure CM capacity's scalability and resiliency. Monitor manufacturing capacity health versus products demand loading forecasts. Drive mitigation plan to ensure the capacity readiness setup ahead of time in the factories.
  • Be Responsible for second source manufacturing site qualification and approval for CMs. Support new components qualification to mitigate product supply risk
