Product Quality Engineer, Google Cloud (English)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in hardware quality for server, PC, networking device, consumer electronics, automotive, or other commercial/industrial products.
  • Experience with system development, manufacturing processes, and test and debug methods.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or in a related technical field.
  • Certifications in American Society for Quality (e.g., CQE, CQM, CRE, or CQA) or equivalent.
  • Experience with Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing and server computer system integrations, and with IPC standards for PCBA (e.g. IPC-A-610).
  • Experience with quality methods and tools such as DFMEA/PFMEA, cause-effects diagrams, Pareto charts, control charts, scatter diagrams, box plots, histograms, stratification, flow charts, 8D report, and analysis tools (e.g., JMP, mini-tab).
  • Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.

About the job

As a Product Quality Engineer supporting Google’s technologies used by Data Centers supporting Google services including Google Cloud Platform, you will join the team responsible for setting and managing the product quality standards and metrics for Google’s Data Center infrastructure. You are the quality expert with extensive experience establishing quality programs from the ground up for products like computing and storage servers, high-computing accelerators, networking switch and many more . You are hands on, with extensive involvement in the tools and techniques used to introduce new products by identify quality risks and deliver quality products, manage sustaining products and lead a cross-functional team in successfully driving product improvements through the entire product lifecycle. You create the processes, tools and procedures to help continuously improve products and manufacturing processes. You analyze the product field performance data from Data Center and provide deep dive analysis and actionable enhancement to improve product quality and reliability.

You will work with various highly skilled design and manufacturing Engineering teams, product operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure the product represents the very best of Google's brand and ensures a quality of service beyond today’s standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the product hardware quality for data center hardware infrastructure throughout the product lifecycle, including qualification through manufacturing test and data center deployment, lifecycle and change management, and additional supplier/production site and line qualification.
  • Lead proactive achievement of system level product quality goals from concepts through end-of-life. Provide technical leadership, set priorities and drive resolution of complex technical issues for a robust product quality and predictable field deployment.
  • Analyze manufacturing and field quality/reliability data to extract actionable insights and areas of opportunity for continuous improvement.
  • Initiate, drive, and implement innovative product, process, tool development/improvement projects, separately and in a cross-functional environment.
  • Monitor, review, and present product performance data and metrics to stakeholders in a concise and clear way that enables data-driven decision making.
