About the job

The Cross-Google Data Warehouse aims to make Google better at user-focused, data-driven decision making in order to help the company deliver better products. This team integrates data from across Google’s consumer products (e.g., Search, Maps, YouTube, Play, Photos) to create a unified cross-product view (schema, access etc.) of the users' activity in the products, their attributes, the devices used etc. The data generated are used to answer Google’s most important questions and power many of the strategies pursued in Google's Cross Company OKRs.

The basic premise of the effort is that while individual products at Google have powerful data sets, performing analysis (across products) using these data sets tend to be difficult or impossible, because dimensions, metrics, privacy/access rules, storage schemas, and data tend to be highly inconsistent and incompatible across products. This team aims to fill this gap by building data sets with a consistent data model, schema, data and access rules across all consumer-facing Google products and product primitives. We have established solid collaborations across all major consumer product teams and have built a unified data model and data processing infrastructure to turn these various data into a set of powerful and Wipeout-compliant tables for use in analysis and more.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
