Payroll Operations Lead (English, Portuguese)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Operations, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in management consulting, or an operations-related function; or 2 years of experience with an advanced degree in business, accounting, finance or human resources.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Portuguese fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience leading complex process improvement projects.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and testing processes and controls for standard systems and custom applications.
  • Experience with accounting, finance, tax, and or risk/compliance principles.
  • Experience with process improvement or Six Sigma.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Financial Analysts ensure that Google makes sound financial decisions. As a Financial Analyst, your work, whether it's modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, is used by our leaders to make strategic company decisions. Working on multiple projects at a time, you are focused on the details while finding creative ways to take on big picture challenges.

As someone who knows the workings of the core Finance team inside and out, you'll lead individual projects to transform planning, tracking and control processes. You'll provide senior level management with insightful recommendations, planning and reporting support.

In this role, you will help execute operations, drive continuous improvement efforts through collaboration with other regional and global payroll leaders, as well as Human Resources, Accounting, Treasury, and Engineering teams. You will manage different cultures, processes, and regulations in a region, while operating with a strong sense of teamwork, cross-functional collaboration, and focus on internal and external customer.

From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of the payroll operational process for Latin America, which currently consists of paying employees accurately and on-time, meeting all compliance obligations, and answering employee queries of different countries in a highly-regulated environment.
  • Execute sensitive tasks and controls, such as performing variance analysis to support payment approvals, reviewing and reconciling compliance filings, planning and executing on year-end processes, managing responses to external audit requests and access to critical systems.
  • Manage relationships with third-party payroll service providers in the region, including facilitating regular meetings to review supplier performance against service level agreement and key performance indicator, discuss highlights and issues in the previous cycle. Review root cause analyses and the previous month's action items were relevant, and discuss any future plans/timelines/pending changes in processes or programs.
