Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology.
- Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.
- Experience with Content Distribution Networks (CDN), IP transit/peering, dark fiber, colocation, optical transport, and cloud technologies.
- Experience in telecommunications, optical networks, DWDM, IP and data services.
Preferred qualifications:
- Advanced degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with defining system or process requirements, building, integrating, or delivering layer 1, layer 2 or layer 3 network systems.
- Experience with managing scaled capacity augment/migration projects in a computer networking environment.
- Experience with forecasting and planning and design tools, workflow automation tooling and improvement.
- Experience with Network System Design, Network Architecture and Technology and Network Infrastructure.
- Understanding the technical and process challenges associated with network planning and design.

The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Review and understand Google's Network Architecture Standards. Produce plans and designs to meet all network infrastructure and capacity plans for Google’s global production network in line with established standards.
- Design solutions and create project plans that identify resource needs. Communicate with internal business partners to collect drivers and deadlines.
- Incorporate New Product Introduction (NPI) solutions into plans and designs. Ensure plan and design toolsets and business processes are ready for intaking NPIs.
- Contribute to the automation roadmap of team tasks, reducing cycle time and improving quality and consistency.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining practices and policies in network designs and plans, and establishing business practices that improve performance, reliability, and reduce risk.
