Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in UX writing, content design, technical writing, writing, editorial, marketing, or related, as well as leading content strategy projects.
  • 5 years of management experience leading content and conversation design projects and teams.
  • 3 years of work experience working with executive leaders.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 12 years of writing, editorial, marketing, or UX writing experience in an agency setting and interacting with executive leadership.
  • 7 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional technology organization.
  • Experience defining ideal model and agentive AI experiences, and translating those ideals into concrete product direction and improvements.
  • Experience working on multimodal user experiences.

You are a visionary leader, a systems-level thinker, and a fierce advocate for both users and your team.

You will be responsible for guiding the careers of your direct reports, helping them realize their full potential while fostering a culture of forward-thinking design. With deep expertise in writing and content design, you will guide your team to create intuitive, delightful product experiences and ensure our products maintain a coherent voice and high-quality narrative. You will collaborate closely with UX, Engineering, and Product leaders to align business goals with innovative user experiences, leveraging your passion for brand, craft, and design quality.
The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$333,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Influence stakeholders across organizations to gain support for design strategies.
  • Lead the development of innovative design solutions to user, product, and business problems.
  • Establish a holistic design process, design system, or design language across teams or products.
  • Own improvements in design based on UX testing and stakeholder input and provide guidance and expertise to effectively engage stakeholders on product design to achieve product goals. 
  • Manage project priorities, including finding and aligning resources effectively to help with the design project work.
