Customer Engineer, Infrastructure Modernization, UKI Platform Practice

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.
  • Experience engaging with and presenting to technical stakeholders and executive leaders.
  • Experience in DC exits/transformations through migrating applications to cloud platforms using strategies such as the 6Rs.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, on-premise infrastructure, virtualization and containerisation platforms.
  • Experience building and maintaining customer relationships.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools, logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions.
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions, encompassing strategy, implementation, and maintenance to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Knowledge of modernization path for mainframe and Unix operating systems (i.e., AIX, pSeries, zSeries, HP-UX).
  • Strong scripting or programming skills for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Proficient in security concepts like encryption and identity/access management, alongside networking concepts including SDN, routing, VPNs, load balancing and firewalls.

As part of this rapidly growing, entrepreneurial team, you'll be crucial in understanding customer requirements and shaping how businesses connect through technology with customers, employees, and partners.

We're actively seeking a highly motivated Customer Engineer for our Platform Practice team. You'll be a trusted technical advisor, guiding customers to design, deploy, and optimize their Google Cloud environments. Your focus will be on smooth migrations and developing new use cases leveraging our AI-optimized infrastructure. You'll work closely with Go-to-Market, product, and engineering teams to maximize customer infrastructure investments and accelerate Google Cloud growth.

Responsibilities

  • Work to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections and develop a strategy to resolve technical blockers.
  • Guide customers through assessments of existing environment(s) and provide recommendations on a prioritization roadmap for infrastructure and application modernization and migration to Google Cloud.
  • Leverage in-depth enterprise infrastructure modernization expertise to support our customers, including technology advocacy, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concepts and working directly with product management to prioritize solutions impacting customer adoption to Google Cloud.
  • Help customers understand and incorporate AI accelerators into their overall cloud strategy by incorporating Google Cloud AI optimized infrastructure.
  • Be responsible for revenue and workload acceleration on infrastructure products and solutions for Google Cloud.
