About the job
The Pixel System Architecture team is responsible for defining the next-generation systems for Pixel devices from concept to volume production to post-deployment.
As the Pixel lead for Brownout Mitigation, you are responsible for leading the team tasked with minimizing brownout events in the field, even as emerging use cases (e.g., Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI), 5th Generation Wireless (5G), camera) drive the demand for increasing peak power consumption. The team delivers on this mission without overly constraining performance to ensure a seamless user experience. You will lead the team to drive the definition of next-generation hardware mitigation and telemetry systems (e.g., in the Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC), System on a Chip (SoC), and other components) and drive requirements for design implementation. You will lead the software architecture, development, and testing for the mitigation system and deliver functional and production code per product development milestones. You will work cross-functionally with SoC, Intellectual Property (IP), and software engineering teams to drive optimizations, track projections to fix issues, and enable Pixel leadership in this domain.
Responsibilities
- Architect Brownout mitigation strategy and deliver mitigation software including relevant kernel, userspace components, and embedded firmware for Pixel phone devices.
- Drive relevant component and system implementation requirements to optimize brownout versus performance tradeoffs for next-gen Pixel phones.
- Drive prioritized workstreams to improve capabilities across hardware and software to ensure Pixel engaged leadership.
- Oversee tests, processes, and field metrics infrastructure to continuously validate the robustness of mitigation and balance performance tradeoffs.
- Drive project roadmaps to enable delivery to timelines for new product launches as well as feature updates, maintenance, and validation for in-market devices.
