Software Engineer, Google Cloud Business Platform Finance

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience in programming with enterprise level software development utilizing one or more of the following core languages: Java, C, C++, Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role and lead software engineers.
  • Experience with web application development, Unix/Linux environments, distributed and parallel systems, developing large software systems.
  • Experience on Finance systems or large data processing.
  • Experience with data storage, data governance and data modelling. Excellent written/verbal communication skills.

Google Cloud Business Platform (GCBP) Finance engineering is responsible for automating various aspects of business recognition to meet accounting standards and build scalable big data pipelines that assist various scenarios of Management reporting.

The Revenue Recognition Pre-Processor (RRP) is a business recognition system for Google Cloud business. RRP can handle complex business accounting to reduce manual effort and risk of restatements. This system is built to be flexible to support Cloud’s evolving Go-to-Market strategy.

In this role, you will be responsible to build data products for bookings, business, commits, usage, cost etc with large-scale data and enable visualizations with optimal latency and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the overall program objectives, technical dependencies and find an optimal solution leveraging SAP and First-Party products.
  • Develop, build, and deploy applications using various platforms and technologies like Java/BigQuery. Work closely with analysts to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Design, develop and manage data transformation pipelines to build financial data products from other data sources using BigQuery technology stack.
  • Maintain highest levels of development practices, including technical design, solution development, systems configuration, test documentation/execution, issue identification and resolution, writing clean, modular, and self-sustaining code.
  • Architect innovative solutions to automate and scale business systems. Provide direction for architecture, design, build, and support activities required for enterprise software platforms and drive for excellence, performance, and security.
