International Tax Senior Analyst, Platforms and Ecosystems

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in tax.
  • Experience working with non-finance business areas to understand business requirements, analyze tax risks and implications, and provide advice incorporating tax constraints to business areas for implementation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Taxation (MST), MBA, MSA, or Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Experience in technology and data analytics tools.
  • Experience in applicable tax matters, tax laws, and tax attributes.
  • Excellent project management, tax research, and communication skills.

About the job

As one of Google's in-house international tax advisors providing technical tax guidance to the Google Play, Android, and Chrome product areas, this role requires staying informed on new and proposed tax legislation that could affect the existing portfolio of product and service offerings.

In this role, you will anticipate and mitigate potential tax risks, connecting different areas of tax and finance teams to foresee potential issues, and clearly articulate tax recommendations and planning opportunities to business partners outside of tax. You will analyze new business models and partner with cross-functional teams to align on comprehensive solutions that minimize tax risks for the company. You will need to develop a deep end-to-end level of understanding of your product area's portfolio in order to guide the business and operational teams on implementing any necessary changes that arise from changes in tax laws.

Additionally, you will prioritize competing demands and coordinate with global tax team members to perform tax due diligence for a range of activities impacting your product areas, including new product launches, contract negotiations, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and tax audit challenges. You will also be responsible for managing external tax advisors and reviewing their work.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $137,000-$201,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Advise business stakeholders on international tax implications and structure recommendations for Google Play, Android, and Chrome product areas 
  • Lead global tax due diligence process for new product launches, working with our regional Tax teams and local Finance project management teams
  • Partner closely with internal cross-functional teams (including Legal, Business Development, Treasury and Accounting) to enable the business to meet product launch roadmap objectives
  • Help identify, research, quantify, and document international tax exposures, legal positions, and alternatives, with an understanding of business objectives
  • Liaise with service providers to develop recommendations and documentation for product launches and tax implications specific to digital platforms and marketplaces
