Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience working on embedded/mobile systems delivering software/firmware solutions for brownout mitigation, battery/thermal or related system management functions.
- 5 years of experience in testing and launching software products, with 3 years of experience in software design and architecture.
- 5 years of experience working with Linux Kernel, operating and embedded systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in architecting, designing and testing firmware and software for production mobile/embedded systems.
- Experience working cross-functionally to define system architecture for consumer electronics devices.
- Experience in full stack and C/C++ programming skills.
- Knowledge of operating systems, power management, interfaces and synchronization.
- Knowledge of relevant hardware architectures for system/battery/power management and hardware/software interaction.
- Ability to debug, triage and root-cause analysis of functional and performance problems.
About the job
As the Pixel Lead for Brownout Mitigation, you will be responsible for leading the team that is tasked with minimizing brownout events in the field even as emerging use cases (e.g., Gen AI, 5G, camera) drive the demand for increasing peak power consumption. You will deliver on this mission without overly constraining performance to ensure a seamless user experience. You will lead the team to drive the definition of next-gen hardware mitigation and telemetry systems (e.g., in the Power Management Integrated Circuit, SoC and other components) and drive requirements for design implementation. You will lead the software architecture, development and testing for the mitigation system and deliver functional and production code per product development milestones. You will also work cross-functionally with SoC, Intellectual Property and Software Engineering teams to drive optimizations, track projections to fix issues and enable Pixel leadership in this domain.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Architect Brownout mitigation strategy and deliver mitigation software including relevant kernel, userspace components and embedded firmware for Pixel Phone devices.
- Drive relevant component and system implementation requirements to optimize Brownout vs Performance tradeoffs for next-gen Pixel Phones.
- Drive prioritized work streams to improve capabilities across hardware and software to ensure Pixel competitive leadership.
- Oversee tests, processes, and field metrics infrastructure to continuously validate the robustness of mitigation and balance performance tradeoffs.
- Drive project roadmaps to enable delivery to timelines for new product launches as well as feature updates, maintenance, and validation for in-market devices.
