Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 13 years of experience in ethics, AI Principles, Trust and Safety, program management, business strategy, anti-abuse, policy or related fields.
  • 2 years of experience in people management or lead roles.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in a related technical field.
  • Experience with societal or civic issues for social good.
  • Knowledge of ethics and socio-technical considerations of technology and the future of AI.
  • Knowledge about the key policy issues affecting the internet (e.g., intellectual property, free expression, online safety, ethics and socio-technical considerations of technology and the future of AI).
  • Proven ability or thought leadership in assessing impacts and adverse effects of technology on users or communities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

Our Trust and Safety team has the critical responsibility of protecting Google's users by ensuring online safety by fighting web abuse and fraud across Google products like Search, Maps, Google Ads and AdSense. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic leader. You understand the user's point of view and are passionate about using your combined technical, sales and customer service acumen to protect our users. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google developers and Product Managers to navigate challenging online safety situations and handle abuse and fraud cases at Google speed (read: fast!). As a Manager in Trust and Safety, you lead a team responsible for protecting Google and its users by fighting abuse and fraud for at least one Google product. You ensure trust and reputation not only for this product, but also for Google as a broader brand and company. You are a strategic leader who possesses the ability to work globally and cross-functionally with several internal stakeholders through effective relationship building, influence and communication. You demonstrate analytical thinking through data-driven decisions. You have the technical know-how, charisma and ability to work with your team to make a big impact.

At Google we work hard to earn our users’ trust every day. Trust and Safety is Google’s team of abuse fighting and user trust experts working daily to make the internet a safer place. We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $206,000-$289,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of individuals, set and communicate individual and team priorities that support organizational goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Design and implement integrations between business purposes and business systems, including designing and building strategies that support these business systems.
  • Conduct analysis, optimize business performance, and deliver within relevant product areas. This includes analyzing data, identifying trends, and developing solutions that improve business performance.
  • Manage projects involving multiple stakeholders, tight timelines, important organizational implications, and changing circumstances.
  • Use Google’s big data to conduct data-oriented analysis, architect metrics, synthesize information, solve problems, and influence business decision-making by presenting insights and market trends.
