About the job
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google Cloud's services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to customer's needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE’s will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance.
As a Site Reliability Engineering Manager, you will lead a team on the critical path for control plane services within regulated and trusted cloud, including admin access control and data residency. You will ensure global SRE operations function seamlessly under administrative constraints imposed by trusted cloud contexts. You will foster engineering excellence, drive technical strategy, and develop a high-performing team. Your role is pivotal to meeting stringent Service Level Objective (SLOs) and building resilient, automated environments. You will drive long-term solutions for challenges with a focus on business impact.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and scale a global SRE team. Foster a high-performance culture focused on professional growth, execution, and excellence.
- Oversee availability, latency, and performance. Partner with Product and Dev teams to define SLOs, eliminate toil through automation, and uphold a blameless post-mortem culture.
- Execute a long-term SRE goal aligned with business goals. Lead complex, transformational projects and proactively mitigate production risks in a fast-paced environment.
- Manage multi-continent on-call rotations, ensuring healthy practices and sustainable long-term solutions. Optimize processes for continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
- Participate in a tier 1 on-call rotation requiring a 5-minute response time.
