Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.
- Experience with supplier management in the compute, storage, networking or data center infrastructure space.
- Experience working for a global contract manufacturer, OEM, or hyperscale company.
- Experience managing CM partners for PCBA’s and systems including cost models.
Preferred qualifications:
- MBA or Master's degree in a technical or engineering field.
- 7 years of experience in supplier management/sourcing.
- Experience with new product development environments (e.g., schedule, cost, urgency, etc.)
- Experience with data center commodities.

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.
GMPM (Global Manufacturing Partner Management) is responsible for the commercial and operations management of Google's Contract Manufacturing (CM) and JDM partners that build server, storage, networking and Machine Learning infrastructure.
We strive to develop and enable CM partners that can align to our future needs around Hardware and Software development as well as an advanced manufacturing global footprint.
This team owns the selection, discussion and management of our CM partners and ensuring alignment to Google's product roadmap.
We are involved in the full product life-cycle from the start of NPI through sustaining and end of life of a product.
Responsibilities
- Support category sourcing strategies in a given product vertical.
- Define cost drivers, develop cost models and establish should cost analysis.
- Lead RFP, contract discussion, and the supplier selection process.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance in alignment with technology, cost, quality, and delivery drivers.
- Partner closely with stakeholders in Hardware, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering functions.
