Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Experience in Mechanical Hardware Engineering.
  • Experience with electronic consumer devices (e.g., headphones, tablets, phones, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in managing functional engineering teams and working with international Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners.
  • Experience with consumer products manufacturing including factory processes and automation.
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle, tools, processes and design operations planning or new product objectives with supply chain, quality, yield and cost.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time internationally as needed.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

The Pixel Buds team is responsible for defining, developing and launching the Pixel Buds product lines like Pro and A-series, with the intent of delivering the helpful hearable experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics.

As a Buds Product Design Engineering Program Manager (EPM), you’ll keep an innovative engineering team firing on all cylinders, leading multi-disciplinary projects using your engineering expertise. You will work closely with hardware engineers, product managers, and manufacturers to get high-quality mechanical parts built, tested and released on time. You’ll coordinate many fast-changing, moving parts and still get them to come together as a product. You possess excellent communication skills and can answer all questions about schedules, quality and progress updates. You are responsible for identifying and managing risks, and making sound judgment calls at the intersection of schedule, cost and quality.
The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define, drive, and own the product development (e.g., mechanical/electro-mechanical design) process from concept to launch for new Google hardware products.
  • Balance schedule, cost, performance, and user experience trade-offs. Work with Agreement Manufacturers, Original Design Manufacturer (ODMs) and part vendors in manufacturing environments on product development schedules, dependencies and budgets.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate focus points and next steps with product managers, engineering teams, vendors, operations, quality, and executive leadership.
  • Improve and maintain processes that ensure team members have what they need to understand and execute on all objectives.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies and facilitate conflict resolution among a cross-functional team of engineers and synthesize data into a story and communicate to stakeholders and organizations at all levels.
