Senior Labor Relations Consultant, UK People Operations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience as an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist.
  • 8 years of experience with UK labor law and labor relations environment.
  • Experience with formal employee representation bodies, including Unions.
  • Experience implementing HR projects, risk management/mitigation, and supporting change management, business readiness, communications, and training activities.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge on a broad range of HR subjects, exposure to Center of Excellence disciplines and local employment law (UK specific).
  • Ability to build relationships with leaders and stakeholders to drive market priorities.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills, and comfortable leading through ambiguity.

As a Senior Labour Relations Consultant, you will focus on the UK market to comply with our legal requirements, address complex issues, and minimize related risks. You will develop labor relations strategies and build constructive relationships with employee representative bodies. You will also influence and partner with the wider business to help deliver organizational changes and develop plans to coordinate and complete applicable information and consultation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the labor relations strategy in alignment with overall HR and business objectives.
  • Manage relationship with employee representatives and third parties; work together with the business and other stakeholders (e.g., People Ops, Employee Relations, Employment Legal) to ensure Google’s compliance with its information and consultation obligations under local legislation. 
  • Lead the deployment of high priority country focused HR programs and initiatives, aligned to the country people plan.
  • Manage local employment policy and practices to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Promote a positive labor relations climate throughout the organization, coaching and upskilling HR and business leaders on effective labor relations practices, identifying and mitigating labor relations risks.
