Staff Software Engineer, Merchant Infrastructure

  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience in Java programming.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
  • Experience with building products that effectively use Large Language Models (LLMs) and Machine Learning (ML).
  • Familiarity with developing and fine-tuning LLMs.

Buyable Corpus utilizes advanced crawling and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) driven extraction to construct a comprehensive and high-quality inventory of Shopping Data. This foundational dataset is integral to powering Shopping experiences across Google, including Commerce, Ads, Search, and YouTube.

It is integral part of the Data Acquisition team in Merchant Infrastructure, responsible for sourcing Google Shopping data via various channels such as File Feeds, APIs, and direct UI submissions. Overall, our team is relentlessly focused on simplifying the data submission process for merchants, minimizing their effort while maximizing data richness.

As an infrastructure team, we provide foundational support to a wide array of client teams.

Responsibilities

  • Architect solutions to automate and scale business systems. Provide direction for architecture, design and support activities.
  • Be absolutely direct, develop, build, and deploy applications using various platforms and technologies.
  • Work closely with analysts, Product Managers (PMs) to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Understand the overall program purposes, technical dependencies and find optimal solutions.
  • Advocate Engineering Excellence in the team - Quality, Performance, Compliance, Security.
  • Manage team solutions and technologies, drive collaborations with partner teams. Mentor and help junior team members when needed.
