External Communications Manager, YouTube

Minimum qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications.
  • Experience in media relations, communications, and crisis communications.
  • Experience with the French media landscape and digital ecosystem.
  • Ability to communicate in French and English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of the YouTube platform and its ecosystem.
  • Existing network of French journalists
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

About the job

As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a YouTube France spokesperson, representing the platform's initiatives and narratives to external audiences.
  • Manage agency partnerships for communication programs, defining objectives, deliverables, content, and budgets.
  • Provide a communications perspective within cross-functional teams, serving as the connection point to both external and internal environments.
  • Manage media inquiries, providing information and shaping stories to ensure accurate and positive coverage of YouTube.
  • Coordinate interviews, prepare spokespeople with briefing materials, and coach internal teams on effective external communications.
