Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working with customers, partners or third-party developers, and advocating or mentoring for new and existing technologies and programming languages.
  • Experience in working with data analytics or data science technologies with on-premise, or cloud technologies data.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience as a technical practitioner in a developer community.

Passionate people are everywhere at Google. In Developer Relations, we get excited to collaborate and connect with the communities that love technology as much as we do. Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Relations Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. You write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5 as well as our core Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

With your technical expertise, you drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies. An ardent advocate for these developers, you represent their voice internally to our Product Managers and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.

As a Cloud Advocate for Cloud Data and Analytics, you will advocate on behalf of the community, ensuring that the products meet their needs and deliver the best possible user and developer experiences. You will advocate solutions and products with the developer community to help developers understand the value of Google Cloud, and ultimately be successful (and prefer) using Google Cloud.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Create engaging and informative assets (demos, solutions, notebooks, code samples, articles, videos, screencasts, blog posts, etc.) to increase awareness of Google Cloud Data and Analytics products and services.
  • Create and deliver technical workshops that enable data analysts, data scientists, and software/data engineers to build and operationalize analytics products in the cloud.
  • Create plans and initiatives that create developer momentum and drive the preference of developers to use Google Cloud Platform, and interact with key third-party technical communities and customers.
  • Present to developer teams to help them on their analytics journey and to gather feedback for the product, material that would help their adoption, and build internal preference for Google Cloud.
  • Foster the external community ecosystem of influencers, meetups, experts that amplify Google messages and extend the reach.
