Product Quality Engineering Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12 years of experience in manufacturing, hardware quality, reliability, product engineering, or test engineering.
  • 10 years of experience in people management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.
  • 20 years of experience in high tech industry with focus in hardware quality, reliability, product engineering, test engineering, or manufacturing of cloud hardware systems.
  • Experience with advanced statistical (or statistics based) methodologies (e.g., design of experiments, statistical process controls, six sigma, probabilistic models, etc.).
  • Ability to work, influence, and resolve conflicts cross-functionally with internal/external partners.
  • Ability to proactively influence the product design process by proposing improvements with associated data.

To enable new/better products fast and scale with efficient QMS, Product Quality Engineers leverage data analytics to provide insights, participate in engineering investigations, and drive actions to improve delivery predictability with robust supply chain quality. When vendors build parts for our compute infrastructure, you’re right there alongside to ensure manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled and define the next standard of Quality Assurance. Your work ensures Google’s infrastructure works perfectly and keeps our systems humming along smoothly.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $208,000-$293,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the overall product quality strategy and assurance plans for next-generation AI hardware systems, collaborating with diverse stakeholders. Develop and manage comprehensive product quality requirements, scope, schedules, and deliverables. 
  • Own the overall product quality process, spanning internal and external development through successful deployment and production at scale, ensuring consistent quality across all stages.
  • Develop predictive failure models using advanced statistical methods. Track key quality metrics and extract actionable insights using advanced analytics and statistical methods to drive continuous improvement. Lead the resolution of product issues during manufacturing and data center operations using structured problem solving techniques such as 8D. 
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management, distilling complex technical information into clear, concise presentations to drive aligned decisions on quality issues and initiatives, and obtain buy-in from key stakeholders.
