Staff Display Metrology Engineer, Augmented Reality Glasses

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in display metrology, and in optical measurement techniques and factory related metrology.
  • Experience in applying optical principles, including diffraction, interference, polarization, and image formation as applied to Augmented Reality Glasses.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in display metrology, and in optical measurement techniques and factory related metrology.
  • Experience with optical and opto-mechanical manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in optical design tools to design, develop or validate metrology tools and align optical setup specially for measuring waveguide and diffraction gratings.
  • Experience in using and maintaining various metrology equipment, including spectrometers, integrating spheres, photometers, imaging systems (e.g, cameras, colorimeters), interferometers and profilometers.
  • Experience in programming skills, including Python, MATLAB, or similar languages.

As a Staff Display Metrology Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the strategy and execution of our display metrology roadmap. You will be involved in prototyping new augmented reality (AR) systems, developing software that powers our next generation of AR glasses and other devices, and building a center of excellence in AR Hardware that lifts the entire ecosystem. You will lead the development and implementation of advanced measurement techniques, establish and maintain industry-leading standards, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of our factory metrology data. You will work on projects that involve characterizing optical components (e.g., waveguides, light engines), validating display performance at the component and system level, and developing and implementing new metrology platforms. You will be a key point of contact for cross-functional teams, providing technical guidance and leadership to ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards. Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the integrity of metrology data, ensuring traceability and reliability.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to display metrology, driving improvement in our processes and workflows.
  • Contribute to the development of internal metrology capabilities, establishing a single source of truth for components and system benchmarking.
  • Evaluate and benchmark optical components and subsystems, providing valuable feedback for suppliers and internal teams.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in display metrology and related technologies. Drive the development and validation of new metrology techniques and equipment.
