Engineering Manager, YouTube Developer Infrastructure

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
  • Experience with Python and C++ programming languages.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with pipelines, system integration, load balancing, with knowledge of web protocols, networking, and systems.
  • Experience with infrastructure management and maintenance.
  • Experience with performance monitoring and optimization.
  • Experience managing engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of engineers responsible for the development and maintenance of the infrastructure, guide the team in defining and achieving OKRs, improve efficiencies, and support a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Develop and maintain new tools, infrastructure, and services to provide development, debugging, and velocity for partner teams.
  • Engage with partner teams and provide automated solutions to engineering issues and developer pain points.
  • Lead the team to meet productivity and quality goals within established timelines, initiate and deliver process improvement projects to enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, drive knowledge management, conduct performance appraisals, identify and address training needs, and participate in recruitment and training programs.
