Localization Product Strategist

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in a project management or a customer-facing role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working internationally or in other languages.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and global environment with proven success in project management, execution and multitasking.
  • Outstanding communication and people management skills, with the ability to effectively influence and communicate (often cross-functionally) with multiple stakeholders at all levels of management.
  • Strong problem solving skills, combined with excellent business judgment and an ability to present to executive decision makers in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Passion for Google products and users.

In gTech Users and Products (gUP), our mission is to advocate for Google’s users by creating helpful and trusted experiences across the product ecosystem. We achieve this by meeting partners and consumers where they are with support and help, representing their needs with our product partners and proposing fixes and features that elevate their engagement with Google's diverse product ecosystem. Our team of Localization Product Strategists act as strategic advisors for products to understand how to successfully connect with users across the world. We help product teams strategically plan a launch into different markets and provide strategic advice on campaigns and launches. They understand how to successfully connect with users across the world.

As a Localization Product Strategist, you will engage with users globally. You will be accountable for the successful delivery of both short and long-term localization needs for their Product Area stakeholders. They use their Localization Strategy skillset to ensure better business outcomes and native user experiences for their product portfolio.

The Localization team helps Google's ideas and products look, feel and sound natural to users in their own countries. We collaborate with international Engineering, Product, UX, and Marketing teams to steer products through the localization process and ensure successful launches across the globe. Our team is an international collection of enthusiastic, creative and knowledgeable people in a fast-paced environment.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $137,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the localization of one or several Google products from inception to launch, managing delivery, cost and quality of projects and overseeing vendor execution.
  • Understand Localization workflows and services, identify tool and process needs to enable operational scaling, collaborate with Operations and Engineering to support deployment.
  • Build a compelling case for new business opportunities (e.g., product language expansion, bringing in new business, localization process refinement), develop insightful recommendations and drive development and implementation. Structure and package your work into presentations and communications that influence various audiences including executives.
  • Build strong relationships with product teams, educating and advising them on their product’s localization journey whilst representing the our global users. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs related to a product’s localization and local insights needs.
