Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years in technical sales engineering or equivalent experience in customer-facing roles (e.g., professional services, sales engineering, or solutions architecture).
- Experience with web, mobile or cloud application development (i.e., Java, JavaScript, HTML5, etc.).
- Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in a program/project management role in consulting, software development, systems integration or systems engineering.
- Experience mapping application development and integration using Google Maps platform (or Location/Maps/GIS platforms like HERE Maps, Mapbox, Leaflet, Deck.gl, Kepler.gl, etc.) or mobile platforms.
- Cloud platform development experience.
- Understanding of solution architecture within web and mobile environments.
- Strong presenter, writer and presentation skills, ability to persuasively present Google's product offering, and record of writing and presenting at industry events.
- Domain expertise in one of the following: Internet of Things, smart cities, urban mobility, transport and logistics, AR/VR, machine learning.
About the job
At Google Maps, we help businesses explore the value of real-world insights and immersive location experiences. As a Google Maps Customer Engineer, you will work in partnership with the sales team to convert Google’s location and mapping solutions to our customers. You will engage with senior industry leaders and partner with them to devise a location intelligence strategy for their company. You will help prospective customers and partners to understand the power of the Google Maps APIs and related offerings, explaining technical features, and problem-solving key technical issues.
You will assist fellow Sales Googlers by problem-solving key technical issues for customers. You liaise with Product, Marketing and Engineering to stay on top of industry trends and devise enhancements to Google Maps Platform products. You will work closely with our customers in the ridesharing, local delivery, AR gaming, and urban mobility space.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the on-going technical relationship with our most strategic customers and serve as their advocate within Google -- triaging bugs, filing feature requests, and conducting regular best practice reviews to ensure their growth and success.
Responsibilities
- Over see technical sales through deep customer discovery, needs and requirements analysis, and preparing and delivering product messaging to highlight our value proposition using whiteboard, slide presentations, product demonstrations, and white papers.
- Take responsibility for technical aspects of solutions to include such activities as supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of supporting technical resources.
- Identify, scope and execute relevant customer trials and/or proof of concepts through requirements discovery, success criteria determination, and prototype integrations and best practice guidance.
- Facilitate RFI/RFP responses. Help Sales to perform pricing and quota estimations and construct agreements.
- Work with GMP’s API products to demonstrate and prototype integrations. Design and implement solutions using products including Google Maps API, Google Maps Mobile SDKs, and Google’s other mapping solutions.
