  • 2 years of experience with coding, in C++ and Python.
  • Experience managing through organizational change and major technological advances.
  • Experience as a Team Lead across the R&D lifecycle, including shipping products at scale.
  • Experience with health/healthcare data.

As a Research Scientist, you'll setup large-scale tests and deploy promising ideas quickly and broadly, managing deadlines and deliverables while applying the latest theories to develop new and improved products, processes, or technologies. From creating experiments and prototyping implementations to designing new architectures, our research scientists work on real-world problems that span the breadth of computer science, such as machine (and deep) learning, data mining, natural language processing, hardware and software performance analysis, improving compilers for mobile platforms, as well as core search and much more.

As a Research Scientist, you'll also actively contribute to the wider research community by sharing and publishing your findings, with ideas inspired by internal projects as well as from collaborations with research programs at partner universities and technical institutes all over the world.

The Health Platforms and Devices team is an interdisciplinary group of engineers and researchers focused on developing new technologies to help people understand and improve their health. We work at the intersection of product and research, which allows us to combine the excitement of innovation with the ability to get large-scale impact on real users quickly.

Our focus is on empowering users directly, using the wealth of information we can glean from personal devices (wearables, phones), interactions with the user, and integrations with healthcare systems.

The Health Platforms and Devices team builds innovative products and services that help our users live longer, healthier lives. We bring together the best of Google technologies and AI, health behavior science, and user-centered design to help users organize the health and wellness data, get insight from it, and take action toward their health goals. We do this with a suite of apps, services, and health wearables. We aim to make consumer health more personal, proactive, and actionable.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Author research papers to share and generate impact of research results across organization and in the research community.
  • Contribute to research growth by sharing research trends and best practices within the community by reviewing academic papers, serving on program committees and grant panels, speaking at Google events or research conferences, or organizing research conferences and activities.
  • Deliver full projects by defining the data structure, framework, design, and evaluation metrics for research solution development and implementation. Identify timelines and obtain resources needed.
  • Identify new and upcoming research areas by interacting with potential external and internal collaborators. Own long-term research strategy and plans to expand the impact of Google research.
  • Identify undefined problems in existing technology and engage stakeholders and leaders to address them.
