Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in privacy software development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Basic practical knowledge of developer tools (e.g., Shell, Git) and ability to read/understand code.
- Familiarity with Operating Systems at a technical level and privacy impacting considerations.
- Excellent systems thinking and analysis, with ability to identify how things might fail in unexpected ways.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills for collaboration with remote team members across multiple time zones.
- Strong user orientation, especially through the lens of trust, safety, security, and privacy.
About the job
Fuchsia is a modern, open source operating system that is simple, secure, updatable, and performant. It’s a general purpose OS, designed to power an ecosystem of hardware and software, and provides core operating system functions like system resource management, a driver framework, and software abstractions.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the completion of privacy requirements for Fuchsia platform and product launches.
- Conduct comprehensive privacy reviews and consults for new features and Fuchsia launches, working with engineers across Fuchsia and Privacy Working Groups.
- Provide privacy guidance and support to engineering teams throughout the product and platform development life cycle. Engage with the wider Google Privacy Working Groups to share expertise and collaborate on cross-functional privacy initiatives.
- Design and implement privacy-by-design for Fuchsia as a platform/OS. Consider potential areas of platform privacy gaps or tech debt and provide mitigation.
- Develop and maintain privacy policies and procedures to ensure Fuchsia compliance with regulatory programs and requirements.
