Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT-related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience managing Linux systems such as RedHat, CentOS, or Rocky.
- Experience with implementing and supporting Cross Domain Solution (CDS) technologies.
- Experience in shell scripting and automation, network configuration and troubleshooting, including firewalls, routing, and switching.
- Active US Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) security clearance with Polygraph.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with continuous configuration automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack).
- Experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other hyperscale cloud design and resource management.
- Familiarity with data diode systems, guard technologies, and high-assurance software applications.
- Knowledge of auditing, system security principles and secure system design.
- Ability to learn new technologies while staying updated on security trends.
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

As a Staff Systems Development Engineer (SDE), you routinely take the lead in the design, operation, and delivery of critical Google CDS services/systems. You own the technical strategy and the outcomes on multiple projects in your domain. You execute against long-term objectives to drive change under guidance from executive leaders and apply your expert engineering skills to determine the best approach to solving known, complicated problems. You need to be proactive in finding solutions across teams, looking for the best approach given your contextual knowledge of other work streams with possible objectives. You will work across teams to drive standardization of processes and apply your subject matter expertise to weigh in on issues outside your immediate team. - Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of distributed systems, ensuring that all architectural components integrate seamlessly.
- Collaborate across organizations with vendors, internal customers, and service owners to define requirements while ensuring infrastructure reliability and policy compliance.
- Drive product excellence by ensuring operational work serves purpose and by leading the development of sustainable, healthy system practices across multiple teams.
- Resolve urgent technical issues by evaluating data and developing new tools or processes to enhance distributed services.
- Participate in on-call rotations and proactively building the playbooks and tools necessary to support the team's technical infrastructure.
